April 21, 2008

Since I was unable to contact the Week #3 winner, and there was no winner for Week #4–I will be donating both of those copies of PS3’s MLB08 The Show to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, as the …

Red Sox 6, Rangers 5: Getting the job done…

April 21, 2008

What a great weekend for Red Sox baseball–and its most excellent to see that, time and time again, the Sox managed to get it done–hopefully that will be a pervading theme throughout the 2008 campaign…yesterdays come from behind victory was the 5th in their last 6 wins–and they have won 8 or their last 9 games, to keep them firmly in 1st place, right in front of the Oreos (?!) The Skanks are in 4th place, 3 games behind after being nearly swept by the cookies this weekend–they managed to win yesterday, but A-Fraud had to leave …

Red Sox 7, Skankees 5: Doing exactly what he is supposed to do…

April 18, 2008

Josh Beckett and Manny Ramirez–two guys who, individually, are completely capable of putting a team on their back and carrying them for a period of time. Last night, they shared the burden–Josh pitched his heart out, going 8 strong (and saving a severely depleted bullpen) throwing 105 pitches (69 for strikes) and only giving up 3 runs on 6 hits while walking 1 and striking out 5. And I was surprised that he did not dust someone in the 7th inning in retaliation for Kyle Farnsworth’s pitch at Manny’s head in the 6th…Maybe it was because there was no one high enough …

Red Sox 9, Skankees 15: Well, THAT was a Butt-Ugly Game…

April 17, 2008

Only got to see bits and pieces of this game–and that was probably a good thing–I think if I had to see Mike Timlin give up FOUR RUNS IN THE 8TH INNING I probably would have thrown something at the TV…Did you know his ERA is now a bountiful 27.00??? And no one is thinking this is a problem???
And the fact that the Sox are still another 11 games until they get a day off–and starters haven’t been going deep into games (6 2/3 innings has been the longest) which means the bullpen is tired and overworked…and it will probably get worse…as 3/5 of our current …

Red Sox 5, Cleveland 3: That would be 4 in a row…

April 16, 2008

Of course, he is a hero every day of the week, being one of (if not THE) best catcher in the game, but last night, the role of game saver did not go to big hitter Manny Ramirez or David Ortiz–but to Jason Varitek. His pinch-hit solo shot in the 9th inning broke the tie and gave the Sox the win–their 4th game in a row… He has not hit a pinch run homer since 2003–and this one was his 3rd.
Wake fared pretty …

Red Sox 6, Cleveland 4: Not the way I thought THIS was going to End…

April 15, 2008

Did not get a chance to watch this game–and isn’t that always the way? The ones I watch every minute of never have an ending like this! Manny Ramirez once again put the Sox on his back and hit homer # 493–a 2 run shot that brought the Sox a 9th inning victory in Cleveland.
And, apparently, Manny has decided to play 6 more years–with the Sox…he has also decided that Big Papi will play 6 more years–with the Sox, and then they will both retire…Have you been calling the psychic hotline again, Manny? (more…)

Red Sox 8, Skanks 5: 2 out of 3? Definitely Not Bad!

April 14, 2008

Whoo Hoo! While I would have like to swept the Skanks–2 out of 3 is fricken fantastic!
But, I made it as far as the 7th inning before I fell asleep–8:00pm games …

Red Sox 12, Tigers 6: Winning another Series…

April 11, 2008

This felt like a closer game than it was, especially in the 8th inning when Julian Tavarez was on the mound, there were no outs, the bases were loaded the score was 8-5 (2 runs had already scored) and freakin Gary Sheffield and his constantly waving bat were at the plate…at that point I had to walk out of the room–I was seeing visions of Grand Slam–right there….Fortunately, he did the ever popular GIDP–and Batsh*t Julian managed to get out of the inning only giving up 1 more run–and that was the closest the Tigers came to beating the Sox–the extra 4 runs in the 8th inning did not hurt either. (more…)

Red Sox 2, Tigers 7: A complete 180…

April 10, 2008

Well, at least the Tigers won their 1st game–of the season…I just wish they waited a couple more days to it…
Unfortunately, this was one of those games that just went from bad to worse…Mike Lowell sprains his left thumb in the 2nd inning. Fortunately, the X-rays show up negative for any kind of break or major damage, so …
